Hout Bay

Hout Bay is situated on the western side of the Cape Peninsula. The Bay is protected on one side by the Sentinel, 330 metres high, and on the other side by Chapman’s Peak with a road 200 metres above the sea. The village played a strategic role during the times that the sea route was dominated by the French, the Dutch and the English. Some ruins of the forts and batteries are still visible. Later it became a fishing village. The harbour is still used and is well known for its yearly catch of “snoek”, sold on the quayside. There is a marina for sailing boats and motorboats. You can take a boat trip to Duiker Island to see seals and sea birds. There are restaurants and shops at Mariners Wharf or you might want to spend time on the beach. Nearby
Llandudno has a beach from which you can see the most spectacular sunsets. A drive over the Chapman’s Peak Drive will bring you to Noordhoek via one of the most spectacular routes in the World. read more

North West & Panorama With Kids

The Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. In the north-eastern part of the Great Escarpment, the inland plateau declines abruptly and steeply and opens up fantastic views of the plains of the Lowveld a thousand metres below. This view is most reliable in the dry winter months. The most spectacular stretch is the Blyde River Canyon which can be reached from Graskop. Just a few kilometres north a small loop road leads to “God’s Window”, from where you will enjoy a wonderful view on the Lowveld. The Canyon starts at “Bourke’s Luck Potholes” and ends at the “Three Rondavels”. From many well-positioned vantage points one has a view of the 33 km long gorge. read more
